Welcome to the courier and small package delivery industry - an industry with varied essential services growing in demand, easy to start, and provides diverse money-making opportunities.

We're all aware of the growing demand for enhanced delivery services due to Amazon, Walmart, Wayfair, and the countless other online retailers. It's booming purchasing frenzy and everyone wants their items and they want them now!

But even outside the booming online craze, the need for reliable courier and same-day delivery services is growing in demand. Retailers, corporations, small businesses, government agencies, law firms, real estate agencies, and more are all in need of same day delivery service.

When I owned my medical transportation company, we leveraged our fleet to build a courier service that catered to some of the delivery needs of local hospitals and some nursing facilities. Our courier service was a great complimentary service to our existing business.

But what makes this opportunity even more convenient is you can literally start as an independent operator using your own vehicle - meaning it really can't get much more cost effective than using your own vehicle for your start-up.

I'm very pleased to endorse and share with you an ebook written by a good friend of mine, Carlos Banks. Many of you might know or recognize Carlos from some of my previous videos and interviews and newsletters from over the years.

In 2006, after studying my ebook, Carlos left a 20-year career with the UPS to start his own non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) company, "The Wheelchair Taxi, Inc." As the demand for his NEMT service grew, so did the requests for courier related transportation.

In an effort to diversify and increase business, Carlos incorporated "Quick Time Courier, LLC" in 2010. Since then, both his medical transportation and courier services continued to grow.

In leveraging his 20 years of delivery experience with UPS and his success in the NEMT business, Carlos decided to write "How to Start a Successful Courier and Small Package Delivery Service." After reviewing and considering his ebook, I welcomed the opportunity to share it with our Million Dollar Transportation Community.

There are several attributes that corporations, hospitals, law firms, and businesses of all sizes need from small package delivery services versus using traditional global delivery services such as UPS, Fedex, DHL, and USPS. These attributes include (1) same day delivery, (2) reduced delivery cost, (3) increased flexibility, (4) access to multiple deliveries or pickups per day, and (5) less regulation or shipping procedures.

Leveraging what you already have

For me, and later Carlos, our existing NEMT businesses served as great platforms to launch our courier services. This allowed us to leverage existing infrastructure and relationships to launch our respective courier businesses.

Ironically enough, in my NEMT business, we were actually solicited by two hospitals we were already contracted with to perform various courier and delivery work. We didn't even need to solicit Support Services because our existing relationship and reputation curried favor - leading them to solicit us to perform various delivery tasks to include paperwork, files, samples, equipment and more. It was a natural fit and progression from our existing business. Had we not already had a medical transportation business, we would not have been solicited, let alone, be in position to accommodate such requests.

If you're operating an existing transportation business, expanding into courier work is a natural progression. You will be able to leverage your existing fleet, clients, and relationships to keep your drivers busy and generating revenue. However, if you do not have an existing transportation service, not a problem. Carlos is going to share how you can start small, operating as an independent operator with your own vehicle, solicit new business, and gradually build your business.
