Welcome to the non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) industry, an industry that's literally growing by the day. How do I know? Because the elderly population is literally in the process of doubling by the year 2030 and the medical transportation industry is one key support service growing in demand to meet the transportation needs of this booming niche market.
Hello, this is Joel Davis, author of the best-selling ebook "How to Build a Million Dollar Medical Transportation Company," and founder of the United Medical Transportation Providers Group. We are proud to have helped an untold number of entrepreneurs and client-providers across the country in building, growing, and expanding their NEMT and associated businesses.
What is non-emergency medical transportation?
Also known as ambulette transportation, NEMT is the transportation of people in wheelchairs, stretchers or those requiring ambulatory assistance. Do not be confused, this is NOT an ambulance service! This is strictly non-emergency medical transportation. You do NOT need any kind of special life-saving skills, training, or equipment.
With your medical transportation service, you will transport people to and from medical appointments, doctor visits, hospital discharges, in and out of nursing, rehab, and skilled care facilities, dialysis treatments, and more. But here is the absolute best part - your two niche markets, the medical industry and the elderly population, are exponentially booming!
Again, the elderly population is going to double by the year 2030 and the medical industry is only continuing to grow and transform with technological advances.
Needless to say, you don't have any kind of keen business sense to realize the long-term growth potential in this industry. But let's discuss in further detail why starting a NEMT business is such a great investment for ambitious, motivated entrepreneurs.
First, rarely do entrepreneurs think of this kind of business when considering a new opportunity. Seriously, when was the last time you heard someone say "I think I'm going to start a medical transportation business?" Chances are extremely good you haven't. In fact, I would suggest most people focus on the "no money down" real estate scams, some get-rich-quick scheme or pie-in-the-sky drop shipping nonsense.
Second, this is a service-based business. As I always say, the fastest way to make money is to provide a service and the fastest way to get rich is to satisfy your customers! With a medical transportation company, there is no inventory, products to buy, store, ship or sell. Further, because you go out into and serve the needs of your community, you don't need an elaborate office or high price real estate.
Third, this is a recession and weather-proof business. It doesn't matter if the markets are up or down, the weather is good or bad, when people have to get to dialysis, chemo, radiation, and other critical medical appointments, there's simply no stopping them. They have to go! Likewise, in hospitals and emergency rooms, when they need to discharge a patient and turnover the beds, those patient must be discharged.
I'm going to teach you a "Controlled Growth Strategy," one that protects your capital investment and cash flow. Further, when you follow my strategies, you're going to position your business so people and facilities seek and retain your services to care for their patients, residents, and loved ones.
As I did and our client-providers continue to do, you can literally start your NEMT business from your living room table, home office, or garage. Again, you don't need a formal office or high-priced real estate.
Consider, what's cheaper and more cost effective, invest in a vehicle that goes out into and meets the needs of your community or invest in real estate for a retail business, franchise, or some other traditional business? Further, starting from home definitely limits your overhead expenses which, again, protects your capital investment and cash flow!
Private pay consists of those clients paying directly or a loved one or legal advocate paying on their behalf. Typically, you will want to collect payment at the time of transport, but other times you will need to invoice the client. You want to cultivate a strong portion of your business to be comprised of private pay clientele.
The Social Security Administration mandates that Medicaid recipients receive FREE non-emergency medical transportation funded by a combination of federal and state funds. In many instances you will work directly with the Department of Social Service and other instances you will subcontract through brokers.
A strong and well positioned NEMT provider can pursue a wide variety of federal, state, municipal, and school related contracts. Requests for Proposals are regularly being issues for prepared providers to bid. Many times, you do not need to bid as the prime contractor, but can bid as the subcontractor.
Facilities of all type are in need of transportation to accomplish their mission. Hospitals and emergency rooms have patients coming in and out daily. Nursing and rehab facilities traveling to appointments regularly.
Many insurance companies will reimburse medical transportation providers directly for transportation to and from medical appointments, examinations, and rehabilitation for patients who are hurt on the job.
Similar to workers compensation, no fault insurance will typically be direct reimbursements to medical transportation providers by insurance companies for those people injured as the result of vehicular accidents.
I'm often asked:
"Joel, I have competitors in my area. Do I really have an opportunity?"
Yes, of course you do! Do you really think those providers are working for FREE? Heck no! They are busy making money. Seriously, if you have hospitals, doctor offices, nursing and rehab facilities, dialysis centers, and the like in your community, then you definitely have opportunity - it's staring you in the face!
The question begs, if other providers are making money, why aren't you? Are they smarter than you because they see the growth trajectory of this industry? No, of course not. They aren't smarter than you, they just started before you. But now, it's time for you to get a seat at the table and go after your piece of the pie!

As I'm sure you can see, the ability to make money in this industry is impressive and can quickly compound. When you consider the price point for each transaction as compared to something like a taxi or rideshare service, it just doesn't compare! Traveling from Point A to Point B by wheelchair can be 3-4 times as much as a taxi service and 5-10 times as much by stretcher. Again, when comparing the difference between a traditional transportation service and a non-emergency medical transportation company simply don't compare.
I trust that, by now, you're starting to see the BIG picture - the real earning potential. And the scariest part, I'm just scratching the surface! There is so much more for me to share with you.
Trust me, I know there is a lot of "free" crap online - misguided crap that suggests starting a successful NEMT business is as easy as getting a vehicle, insurance, and passing out business cards. But let's be honest, "you get what you pay for" and "free" advice is typically the most costly advice.
Although starting a medical transportation business is not complicated, because there is no continuity between states and rules and regulations vary everywhere, being successful in growing and scaling your business does require skill, experience, and a strong understanding of our industry - and that is what you are able to leverage through my resources.
Although the NEMT industry is growing and in high demand, it's obviously not a high-tech business. You don't need a fancy degree or even prior experience to start. You are not a doctor, a nurse, or even a caregiver. You are simply the most convenient and courteous transportation provider possible!
Remember, unlike an emergency service, you do not need any special life-saving skills, equipment or training. When you follow my strategies, you're going to be able to do exactly as I did - start with one vehicle, follow a "Controlled Growth Strategy," and systematically build your business.
When I started, I had no prior NEMT experience let alone any business experience. My NEMT business was my very first business. But unlike me when I was first starting, you have access to all my training materials and even the possibilities of exclusive coaching. This means you can avoid all the costly mistakes I made so you can focus on growth and profitability!
The old adage "A smart man learns from his own mistakes" is true. But I have enhanced this saying. I believe "A smart man learns from his own mistakes, but a truly wise man learns from the mistakes of others - it's a whole lot easier and more cost effective!"
Think long-term. This is a business that's going to last and continue to grow. This is a business in which you can make money and build a legacy. You can keep it, sell it for profit, or pass it onto your heirs.
If you are like almost 80% of Americans, you have contemplated starting your own business. But if you have only thought about starting your own business and you can't find the right opportunity, then look no further. I'm going to show you how to be successful in two of the fastest growing niche markets – the elderly population and the medical industry.
If you're a caring and compassionate person, if you like to help others, then this could be the right business for you. But now, it's about time for us to stop talking and start acting. We have to get down to the business of making money and laying the foundation for your business. Click on the link to the right and let’s get started!
Note: This information is offered in ebook format ONLY There is no physical book to ship or waiting on "snail mail!" Invest now and you will literally begin studying "How to Build a Million Dollar Medical Transportation Company" immediately following your investment!
Who cares more about your financial future more than you? Who cares more about your success than you? The answer is NO ONE!
The NEMT industry has been a phenomenal opportunity for me and many others and I know it can be for you. But if you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got! Take decisive and bold action and create a new trajectory for your life.
There are many elderly people sitting in nursing homes with limited family and even fewer visitors. When you arrive to take them to their medical appointments it is, in many instances, literally their outing for day, week, or month. Trust me, by providing these elderly people with helpful and courteous service, service-with-a-smile, it makes them feel special and brings value to you!
Remember, you are a service-based business. Because you are literally going to be helping people, you will become an asset within your community. You will be helping clients, hospitals, nursing facilities, doctor offices, treatment centers and the like. You are literally helping these facilities to accomplish their daily missions.
Consider, without your service, how would doctors see their elderly and disabled clients? How would these patients even get to the doctor? How would hospitals empty their beds to accommodate new patients? Without your service, their operation would come to a screeching halt!
